Rob  Mitchell,  a Small Business Owner, former Air Force Major, Medical Law Advisor and Health Law Attorney, to Announce Run for Congress in the 8th District of Pennsylvania.

Doylestown, PA, (Nov. 30, 2009):   Rob Mitchell, 43, a small-business owner, former Air Force Major, and health law attorney, will announce his candidacy for Congress on December 1, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the Mercer Museum’s  Elkins Gallery, 84 S. Pine Street, Doylestown.

Rob attended Boston University on an Air Force ROTC Scholarship and graduated Cum Laude with degrees in Economics and Law.  Rob then served as a judge advocate in the Air Force for several years during which he was a Medical Law Consultant advising military medical facilities around the world.

After serving seven years in the Air Force,  Rob moved his family to Doylestown in 1999. Rob was a corporate compliance officer for a  privately held long-term care management company, and then an attorney with Wolf Block LLP in Philadelphia. In 2002, Rob left Wolf Block to become the Executive Director for the AHP Settlement Trust where he oversaw the distribution of a $3.55 billion Nationwide Class Action Settlement involving the diet drug Fen-Phen. Prior to this run, Rob and his wife operated their engraving business.

Rob passionately believes in fiscal responsibility in government.  “I’m a concerned citizen, not a politician.  I love this country and my family and for that reason I decided to run for office. I recently became  politically active over concern that Congress is irresponsibly spending our public tax dollars, growing our government and restricting our freedoms.” says Rob.  Moved to act by the passing of the stimulus bill, Rob helped organize the first Bucks County tea party event.  Rob gained national recognition at the Health Care town hall in Philadelphia when he questioned Sen. Specter over Congress’ failure to read legislation.  Rob recently returned from Washington, DC ,  where he was part of a contingent of  Bucks County residents who urged Patrick Murphy to oppose the House health care reform bill.  “Our current Congressman pleased the Democratic leadership with his vote, but  forfeited any claim to being a fiscal conservative who effectively represents his constituents in Bucks County and the 8th District,” observed Rob after Rep. Murphy voted for the bill.
Rob’s family, including his wife Tira, and their two children, Robert and Stephanie, will be joined by friends, neighbors and supporters as he announces his run for Congress.
