Mitchell responds to Sen. Scott Brown’s Win in Massachusetts’ Special Election

Doylestown, PA (Jan. 21, 2010): Rob Mitchell, Congressional Candidate for PA’s 8th District congratulates Massachusetts State Senator Scott Brown for his election to the U.S. Senate.  “The good people of Massachusetts have spoken and their voices were heard Tuesday night.  The reverberations of their voices and votes have captured the nation’s attention,” says Mitchell.

Like the citizens in Massachusetts, Pennsylvanians in the 8th District do not want the type of health care reform being pushed by this administration and sold by Congressman Patrick Murphy.  The Democrats’ plan represents an expensive government seizure of our nation’s health care delivery system.  Rather than re-engineering the entire system, Mitchell says he’s in favor of common-sense, practical, and affordable measures that make insurance accessible for all Americans. Mitchell supports health care solutions that:

  1. Ensure universal access to affordable health insurance by restructuring the tax code
  2. Allow all Americans to secure an affordable health plan that best suits their needs
  3. Shift the ownership of health coverage away from the government and employers to individuals
  4. Reform medical malpractice laws to stop frivolous lawsuits, outrageous judgments and defensive medicine

“Tuesday night’s election results show that we need elected officials that have the courage to open the chamber doors, roll-up their sleeves, scrap the current bills, and start over on health care reform,” adds Mitchell.
