Economy
It's time for an economic reality check. It's time to heal our nation’s and families’ economic woes, not create corporate welfare and entitlement programs that have painfully added to our nation’s spiraling, out-of-control debt at the expense of hard-working Americans and small businesses.
As your representative in Congress Rob will support legislation that will
- Focus on the creation of real, private sector jobs by allowing well-managed businesses to prosper.
- Stop wasting money bailing out failed businesses at the expense of well-managed competitors.
- Reduce mandates on small businesses, and encourage growth and expansion.
- Reform taxes by
- Adopting a simple, flatter tax with two basic tax rates and a generous standard deduction
- Promoting savings by eliminating taxes on interest, capital gains, dividends, the death tax, and the Alternative Minimum Tax
- Replacing the corporate Income Tax with a Business Consumption Tax that makes our country competitive on the world stage
- Reform Social Security and Medicare
- Keep promises to people who don't have the time to adjust their savings by preserving benefits for everyone 55 and older
- Implement necessary changes for younger people to make the programs permanently solvent for younger generations
- Reform the Budget Process
- Require Congress to review the entire cost of entitlement programs on a regular basis
- Prohibit the Federal Government from raising taxes above historic averages without super majorities (3/5) in both houses
For more information about the reforms discussed above, please refer to the Roadmap for America's Future, originally crafted by Representative Paul Ryan (WI-01) and introduced in the Budget Committee in 2008.
